Pescado 4: Developments

Pes came back from Egypt determined to experiment with Transmogrification, and after much research, succeeded in producing not one but three spire cut tiberiums!

"The solution appears to be to fill the bench with things to the value of between §3500 and §4999. That seems to give a Tiberium most times. So, now I am free of the treadmill. No need to worry about money! For now, at least."

Money problems over, he decided he would like some feminine company. He got out his little black book.

"I must have been more sociable than I thought!".

He invited Aya Tanner, his former lover, to visit. They were still friends of course, and he gave her a newly-built time machine. "What on earth could I do with this?" "Well, if worst comes to worst you can always sell it at the Consignment Store; they are quite valuable!"

One night, while chatting online, he figured out a way to beat the odds at the Casino, to "hack" it. Now that he had loads of money of course he didn't NEED to, but it might be fun.

He was planning an evening out to test his idea when Aya phoned, asking whether Junji could come and stay with him for a while? He was unsettled, she said, and might be happier with a father-figure.

"Who did you have in mind? oh, me? ME? I suppose I AM his father. Technically."

She laughed. "What other ways are there?"

"Cloning? Em. Okay... I could take him out places, maybe even abroad... teach him stuff... and the cats would love having him here. I still need to work on my inventions, but sure; I can afford a nanny. Give me a few days to get some furniture for him and then bring him over."

He was still only at level 4 of the Inventor career. As he hadn't needed money, he hadn't bothered to sell his inventions for some time, so had not progressed career-wise. Invented toys were dotted around the house; there would be plenty of things for Junji to play with.

Their plans were held up for a while because there was a freak hurricane. It brought rain to the desert. A LOT of rain. Water lay on top of the parched dry sandy soil, completely flooding it. The cats ran around madly catching confused lizards and turtles, looking for fish in the puddles and dodging raindrops.

The day after Junji finally arrived, he had the day off school, so Pes and he set off for town. "I have to go to the Consignment Store, and then we'll see what you fancy doing. But there is a playground on the pier you might like."

First they went to Liu Pei's store. Junji loved the spiral staircases in the bar next door and spent some time sliding down them. "You should have stairs like this in your house, Pops."

"The cats would hate it."

Junji told Pes it was Spring Festival Day, and that they had to go to the Festival - it was an assignment from school.

Pes tried out a Love meter while Junji tried all the edibles and drinkables.

"Ah, I see how that works. Of course, I don't believe it. Much. Flattering, though." He wandered on with a smile on his face.

Pes had started to go out with Trepie's daughter Trippy. At dinner, in their posh new dining room, with his wife Jelenedra and guests Darrick and Ella Thorn.

"Why giraffes?"

Trippy laughed. "Because Daddy has always wanted to go to Africa."

Unfortunately Pes realised he found Ellatrue far more attractive than his date. She, in turn was very happily married and even older than he is! So he decided it was time to finish with Trippy.

His options were not increasing.

Once Junji was back at school, Pescado threw himself back into his work. He worked on his hacking, his potions and the invention bench. At least he could call himself Inventor now!

Their next outing was one day after school, when he needed to go to the junkyard to get some scrap. Remember, Pes likes to get his scrap the quick way!
