14 Ways to Enjoy SWTOR With Little or No Combat
They just amalgamated the servers, so there are more people around when I play now. That MAY be an improvement.
Has beautiful "worlds", great storylines. Lots to explore, a huge universe which actually feels large enough.
I like the crafting and particularly enjoy making dye modules.
The downside? Well, it's owned by EA (see SimCity above). Patches are applied most weeks and sometimes fix things. You can play for free but the best game experience is definitely as a Subscriber.

Pretty, plenty of people there. Nicely done landscapes; not all the action is in subterranean dungeons (but much is!)

This game was the love of my life for a long time. Even more than Sims! Beautifully drawn landscapes, an interesting story, set in the ancient world (or a fantasy, slightly steampunk variant of it) and many puzzles and tests to play. AND NO COMBAT! Though plenty of interpersonal CONFLICT! Sadly, it had shrunk past the point of playability over the last couple of years as the main (and only) developer found other things that interest him more. Now taken on by a new developer.
Amazing, excellent, so full of promise - but sadly, it's going nowhere. User-made content is good but has resulted in the only real "game" there being that of selling goods or services to other players. Building in SL is better than in any other online world. If you're not in the States, be prepared for it to feel like a single-player game; it is real-time, so when I am online most other players aer sleeping or working. There is much beautiful content already there, and it's definitely worth a look if you like pretty things. Largely taken over by groups interested in BDSM roleplay. For this reason I wouldn't recommend it unless you are over 30 and very open-minded.
